We have devised a children’s programme which we feel optimises the safari experience with quality family time. The features of the children’s programme include arts and crafts, bush skills, African stories, special child-friendly food and babysitting during certain hours.
The Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre
One of our endeavors includes the Shamwari Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, rehabilitate and care for sick, injured, abandoned or orphaned animals under the care of our professional veterinary team. Once these animals have been nursed back to health, they are released back into their natural habitat.
The Ian Player Rhino Awareness Centre
As part of your safari experience with us, you will have the opportunity to visit the center and the animals in our care. The Wilderness Foundation has created a unique rhino display at the Ian Player Rhino Awareness Centre, to highlight the current rhino situation.
Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries
In collaboration with the Born Free Foundation, the Big Cat Rescue and Education Centres are situated within our game reserve. The rescue and education centers home rescued lions and leopards from across the world and aim to be an enlightening experience for all visitors.
Try canoeing for a scenic exercise option, or opt for a leisurely paddle enjoying the sights and sounds of river life. Getting down Bushman’s River you will have the opportunity to feel like you are at a wildlife centre. A great activity for the whole family or for truly enthusiastic person.
Beach Trips By Boat
Take a trip up the Bushman’s River and spend the day on the beautiful beaches of Kenton-on-Sea. You can enjoy beautiful views, relax on the beach and swim in warm water. During the break, you will be served dishes of African cuisine.
A nice alternative during lengthy stays is river cruise. The boat meanders down the Bushman’s river, beaming with incredible scenery of plant life and enchanting birdlife including the Crowned, Martial and African Fish Eagles. The perfect way to spend your day during the warm weather.
You can view a lot of animals, plants and in general landscapes in the Eastern Cape. This breeding area offers a more relaxed game viewing for the whole family where you can get up close and personal with game such as zebra, giraffe, warthog and various antelope in a safe environment.

Night Game Drives
As it gets darker your guide hands out some spotlights which you can use to track the animals with. You learn how to slowly scan the trees and shrubs around you and to pick out the shiny white reflections from the light on the animal’s eyes.
The best way to end the day is to swim in a pool, with spectacular views of the unspoiled landscape surrounding. The swimming pools are well situated for both bird watching and game viewing, whilst cooling off with a refreshing drink in hand.
What better way to work up a sweat on the various gym machines while looking over the bush below. A well-equipped gym caters to your need for physical exertion when the African pot begins to pad the hips and you have had adequate time relaxing on your deck.
