“Fantastic!”

We stayed in Lentaba, in Lalibela Game Reserve, and had a fantastic stay – despite the weather! On arrival, we were met and our car was taken and parked and our bags were brought to our room for us, while we got ready for our first game drive. The food is excellent, and the guide, Shelly, was brilliant at finding the animals, which we surely would have missed without her. The highlight was definitely the lions – magical! The staff were all so friendly and really couldn’t be nicer. From the accommodation, to the welcome, to the food and the game drives everything was perfect, and we are looking forward to going back soon!

“Fantastic”

We have just returned from a 2/52 stay in South Africa–mainly Cape town area. The highlight of our trip was a 2 night stay in Lalibela at Lentaba lodge—food and accommodation excellent–staff incredibly friendly and helpful.
The guides were first class with Francois taking us to within feet of lions and elephants–man of steel!! Due to his professionalism and bush craft at no time did we feel anxious and he spotted animals we would surely have missed–the magic moment was seeing a cheetah at a waterhole,
Going to Lalibela is a wonderful experience and much better value than some of the more established reserves–highly recommended.

“How close did we get?”

We arrived here on Nov 15 at the start of our South African holiday. The welcome at reception was warm and friendly and that continued throughout our stay. The staff at Lentaba Lodge gave us excellent service; our chalet was kept clean and tidy and the food, whether it be early breakfast or dinner after a game drive was plentiful and tasty. One member of our party celebrated his birthday on the day we arrived, so we had e-mailed beforehand to arrange a cake. The cake, which looked and tasted delicious, was paraded in with great aplomb, along with the local dance group, who sang Happy Birthday with great gusto.
Our enjoyment of the game drives was enhanced with having Keith as our ranger, his enthusiasm and knowledge was infectious. We saw much more wildlife than we imagined and to be present during the lead up to a kill (even though the male lion ‘blew’ it.), was a privilege. Our time at Lalibela and Lentabe Lodge remain the highlight of our holiday; not only for the amount of wildlife we saw but also for the hospitality we were given.

“Wonderful experience”

Everyone at Lalibela made our visit a special occasion. Friendly, efficient and fun, the genuine love of the animals is abundant in their staff. The lodge we stayed in, Lentaba, had glorious views and big open fires were lit when the evening chilled after the last game drive. Early morning game drives were followed by great breakfasts…then an afternoon kip or dip in the pool and relax in sun before the late afternoon drive. A huge variety of game in beautiful natural surroundings….and mostly letting nature take it’s course. We saw Lions Cheetahs, Buffalo, a bewildering amount of different Antelope, rhino, elephants, zebra, hippos and giraffe to mention just the main ones. Monkeys and birds abound too and the huge number of babies are a testament to how the animals thrive in this exquisite setting. A great family excursion too as we had our two girls aged 8 and 13 with us. An experience none of will forget.
