From the comfort of our specially equipped open Land Rovers, you encounter the impressive BIG 5 roaming freely on the Sidbury plains. Here the white rhino, monarchs of the African bush roam the plains as freely as they did hundreds of years ago.
Delight in the entertaining squabbles and games of the playful Vervet monkeys or Chacma baboons, the original comedians of the wild! Indulge your fascination as you stumble upon a family of warthog, digging for roots or speeding across the lanes with their trademark “tails held high”.
You’ll be awestruck by our zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, and many of the common and rare antelope who have roamed these plains for centuries. From the delicate solitary Blue duiker, who melts out of the brush at the edge of a clearing, to the towering kudu bull, who fixes his gaze on you as he browses nearby.
At night the porcupine, aardwolf, caracal, and other nocturnal explorers and predators patrol the silent, inky darkness.

    “Game reserve with a difference!”

We visited in July 2017 after hearing many wonderful stories about Kwantu, all turned out to be true! The owner is very hands-on and approachable, the food was fantastic and the guide was extremely well versed! We received a warm welcome lunch and a huge roaring fire shortly after we arrived and then set off on a wonderful game drive. Our guide took us to the predators’ cages and introduced us to several big cats, he clearly knew his subject matter. The proper drive lasted just under two hours and we were very fortunate to see giraffe, elephant, a pride of lions with a recent kill, rhinos and several species of buck. We also had the added bonus of a family of highly animated vervet monkeys who had free reign of the grounds.
The reserve is deeply involved in educational programmes and prides itself on its care and knowledge of its wildlife.
The hotel, service, and rooms is worth every of its five stars and the food was wholesome and unpretentious!
    A highly recommended experience!

    “Truely wild Game Watching.”

Spent 5 days here and it was everything it said it was and so much more. Lodges are separate from the hotel in the middle of the park. You need driven back and forward by the Game Rangers but they over look a water hole, allowing you to watch the wildlife from your own balcony.
Lodges are beautiful, hotel is great, food is good – you don’t come to Africa for Michilin Stars – and staff are very obliging.
Have spent hours and hours on Game Drives with the most fantastic Ranger. Innocent can spot animals like a hawk. Lion cubs, lionesses hunting, the two magnificent male lions, hippos, buffalo, elephants, giraffe- they are all so good at hiding in the bush that, without his skill I would never have seen anything. He made sure that he found everything.
This place is 6000 hectares of untouched savanna. Don’t expect tame lions and guaranteed “animals on demand” but enjoy what you see when you see it.
For serious game watching, cannot recommend this place highly enough.
By the way, there is no alcohol served, but everything else makes that irrelevant.

“Retreat at Kwantu was a dream”

We attended a Retreat at Kwantu with dear friends. We had an amazing time. The Game Drive was excellent with even a close sighting of a herd of beautiful African Elephants. Getting back to the hotel, we were treated to a gastronomic experience which left us feeling beyond satisfied. Our luxurious rooms were spacious and just the cherry on top to end off our adventurous day. We woke up feeling refreshed and of course the smiles of the helpful staff added to a wonderful stay. Our kids had a memorable time feeling so at home, enjoying the entertainment room as well as roaming freely around the Historical Village of Sidbury with the touch farm even including an up close experience with an Ostrich!

Kwantu is a place that you just have to visit again and again. You get so accustomed to the experience you can’t go anywhere else!

    “Kwantu is bliss”

I had the pleasure to stay at Kwantu Safari Lodge (Lions Cub) for 2 nights at the beginning of October 2016 and was really impressed. Being in a private game reserve offers you the best way to get so close to animals without having more cars and people on your way. The lodge is very nice, my room was huge with all modern amenities.staff is superb.
The lodge got an awesome dining area, a play station and a rehabilitation centre where you can spend your free time.
Cheers to Mr. Innocent, Mr. Faith all other rangers and trackers and all the lodge staff, you peoplel did a great job and I will definitely recommend this super spot in Kwantu’s bush.
